Descripción/Condición
“Moongate” is a classic, custom designed, trailerable, outboard powered, cruiser with yacht quality construction, bronze/stainless steel hardware and teak joiner work. At 30’ overall and with a draft of 2’, she has a top speed of over 30 knots. She provides ample accommodations and equipment for a couple or a small family. She is above all, practical and cost effective to transport, store, maintain and re-power as technology evolves.
The use of an outboard bracket combined with a low deadrise allows the lower unit to be positioned substantially higher and further aft of the hull for reduced drag, higher speed, better fuel economy and shallow draft. For added safety, there are no through-hull fittings below the water line. She is powered by a 1997 250 hp Yamaha with 250hrs that can be tilted completely clear of the water.

Hull: Constructed by Ellis Boat Company in Southwest Harbor Maine, she is hand-laid heavy mat fiberglass to commercial specifications. All available space not used for tankage or bilge stowage has been injected with foam flotation.

Deck: Constructed of 3/4” balsa core with mat and glass. A heavy wall 1 1/2’’ SS gantry constructed by Railmakers supports the radar, 2 solar panels, antennas, fish rod holders, telescoping fishing outriggers, halogen cockpit lights and 2 structurally significant hinged arms designed with block and tackle to deploy roll control stabilizers when at anchor.

Bridge: The teak finished bridge provides excellent visibility and ventilation through two opening windshields, four side windows, and comfortable seating for two. On the centerline, is a standing height teak chart table with lockable storage for navigation instruments on removable mounts.

Cockpit: The cockpit provides a varnished teak drop leaf table and u shaped settee that can be converted to an additional berth. Two removable cabinets amidships contain storage for two ice chests, a deep sink with shower attachment and a two burner SS stove.

Cabin: The forward cabin is finished with yacht quality hardware, a teak and holly sole, varnished teak doors, bookshelves and trim and cypress paneling. There is a large V berth with 6” foam mattresses and a matching filler cushion, a separate head, a sink cabinet with medicine chest, extra drawers and a bureau to port for stowage. The head contains a portable MSD plumbed to a macerator for overboard discharge.

Electrical and Mechanical Systems: The on board ac service is comprised of a 30 amp supply to a Professional Mariner charger/ converter, a 5 gal hot water heater and numerous GFI outlets in the cockpit and below decks. Two 5 watt solar panels on the radar arch provide battery voltage maintenance. 12V breakers are provided for all typical on board functions and equipment including numerous 12V accessory sockets above and below decks.
A 20-gallon water tank feeds two SS sinks, one in the cabin and an extra-deep “sea” sink in the cockpit. Both have pressure hot and cold water delivery along with non-powered Whale foot pumps. The cockpit sink has a fixture for attaching a telephone-type shower head. Located under the starboard gunwhale is a coiled freshwater wash down hose for use in the cockpit or rinsing off equipment.

Electronics and Additional Equipment: Electronics include VHF radio, Garmin GPS chart plotter with northeast US map chip, radar, depth sounder, Sony CD player/stereo, and XM radio. Other equipment includes both plow and Bruce anchors, full canvas, all USCG fire and safety equipment, barbeque grill, 8’ inflatable with nav lights and outboard, stabilizers, fenders, swim ladder, lines, custom V-berth linens, tools, spares, cleaning equipment, etc.

Trailer: The trailer is a 2003 Continental, aluminum, tandem-axle bunk trailer with 4-wheel hydraulic surge brakes. Total trailer weight is 950 lbs. with a capacity of 8500 lbs.
