Enjoy downtown living in the coolest and most truly unique homes it has to offer. This 63 foot 1948 wheeler power yacht serves as a spacious floating 2 story condo with over 1300 square feet of living space that offers 2 full kitchens as well as two bathrooms. The down bath is full, complete with shower and heated bathtub, the upstairs features a half bath with head and sink. The Fire Island Belle is moored at a private dock just 200 hundred yards from Tower City in downtown Cleveland. Despite its location the dock remains incredibly private as it only houses 3 other craft and sits on a large expanse of private land which backs up the the riverfront Metroparks. The Belle’s rear deck, rooftop, and many windows serve as front row seats for fireworks at the Jake as well as unparalleled views of the city contrasted by the beautiful river and wildlife that inhabits it.
The annual dock cost is less than $3k annually. In an area where most rentals cost $1500+ this creates an incredible value proposition for anyone living on the Belle.

The vessel was built by Wheeler Shipyards in 1948. The quality of its construction is on par with Wheelers excellent reputation, and most notably their use of double bent white oak frames. During WW2 the vast majority of Wheeler vessels produced were under government contract. The war time Wheeler 83s were famous as WW2 era patrol boats and a number survive today, converted to pleasure use. The vessels configuration, and Wheelers history suggests this vessel was built as a patrol boat, then repurposed into a passenger ferry due to the end of the war. The Belle served on the fleet of Fire Island Ferry Inc as a water taxi from 1949 until it was retired in 2000. Upon its retirement it was purchased by a Long Island native and craftsman who converted into a live aboard / with use of the top floor as a workspace studio.
In 2015 the Belle was purchased by its current owner and transported under its own power, by water, from Mystic CT. to Cleveland OH.
The Fire Island Belle is familiar and easily recognizable to hundreds of thousands if not millions of NYC residents and visitors who rode upon it throughout its extensive commercial service. It is stated by previous captains and crew that many celebrities were amongst those who rode on the Belle during its commercial service including Frank Sinatra, JFK, and Elvis Presley.
