Descripción

MARLIN is the replica of a classic saloon commuter motor yacht seen from the banks of the Hudson River in the late 1920’s. She is based on designs by naval architect John H. Wells, but was built in 2007 with modern conveniences to allow passengers to cruise in comfort. The owner has made every effort to maintain this boat to Bristol standards.

A comfortable salon, plenty of outdoor areas, a well-equipped galley and 3 generous cabins make this boat a very fine family boat and the sleek hull allows extremely economical cruising (about 1 liter/nm @ 9kts!). This year several interior upgrades have been done to make the boat more comfortable. Heating system has been upgraded with new quiet heaters for the cabins and electronic thermostats. During the annual spring refit, some of the exterior varnish will be stripped to bare wood and revarnished. All used mattresses will be replaced with new (unused) ones before handing over to the new owner.

The current asking price is 155,000 Euro VAT NOT PAID or 184,450 Euro including VAT.

This is an amazing opportunity to own a very fine family cruiser at a truly incredible value!

Construction

Hull: Cold-moulded plywood, laminated with epoxy, glassed from outside and in.  Bilges, 32mm (approximately 1 ¼”), scantlings exceed the requirements of the European recreational craft directive to ISO 12215-5.  It is to be expected that the hull should be trouble-free with normal maintenance for the next few decades.

Decks: 25mm (1”) plywood with glass/epoxy sheathing, glassed to the hull, sidedecks and aft cockpit covered with Flexiteek.

Superstructure: Plywood and massive African mahogany, aft superstructure glassed over, then sheathed with wood for brightwork.

Stability tested by heeling experiment and calculated to ISO 12217-1 for category B, stability and structural strength approved by class society RINA.

Engines

Engines: 2x Volvo TAMD40b @165HP with gearbox MS3C 1,96:1, 1600 hours and running well.

Shafts: 45mm connected to gearbox with Python drive cardanic shaft and thrust bearing.

Props: Michigan 20x19, 3-bladed, 65% (about one inch too steep for engines).

Cruising speed: 12 kts @ 18 l/hEconomic cruising: 9 kts @ 9 l/h

Maximum speed: 15 kts

NOTE: If an interested party desires to repower the Motoryacht, the owner has offered his knowledge and hands-on services to assist in the repower. He suggests that it is easiest and most economic to repower the boat with low hour TAMD41 engine (successor of installed engines) with 200hp each. The 25% extra power should increase the maximum speed above 18kts without sacrificing economy.
Work, including sourcing and getting the engines, checkup and installation, refairing and painting of salon roof, new carpet in salon would delay taking over the boat by 4-6 weeks.

Expenses for that are estimated at no more than 20.000 Euro by the owner.
