Even rarer is the fact that this boat has only had one owner since commissioned new from the Lagoon factory in 2016 and has never been chartered. Her owner, a Spanish gentleman who intended to circumnavigate and equipped the boat accordingly, left Europe in 2017, spent some time in the Caribbean, Panama, San Blas, before heading to the Galapos and Tahiti, where he spent over a year waiting to see if borders to the Cook Islands and Tonga re-opened. Finally, keen to at least visit Melanesia, he crossed over to Fiji in July 2021, and after exploring the outer islands decided that it was time to give someone else a chance to enjoy this lovely yacht and return to Europe. His long-term plan is to finish his circumnavigation again in a few years on another Lagoon 39, as the design and the boat itself performed above expectations for the entirety of the voyage. The Lagoon 39 introduces the already immensely popular Lagoon Catamaran to another sphere altogether. Self tacking Jib and all the lines including reefing line ran aft and controlled from the well-protected cockpit means no risky trips on deck in tricky weather. The self-tacking jib also means less ropes lying about to coil or hide in bags... or trip over. Another comment, which started with the first review when the boat was first introduce to market, and consistently since for everyone who sailed this model, from professionals to cruisers, coastal sailors or the novice charter-sailor, was the feeling of having a boat which was extremely well-behaved. A smaller, roached mainsail on a pushed-back mast means less canvas flapping about when things don't go according to plan, a less likely to fracture boom, less risk of a crash jibe that might damage equipment, and a reduced need for heavy deck hardware. On the other hand, the huge, easily controlled Genoa when deployed acts like a team of horses capable of bringing steady, balanced speed without pushing the bows down, in fact helping lift the bows to offer less resistance to water and a safer balance projected more aft when compared to other catamarans. The Lagoon 39 showed that Lagoon Yachts continue to strive to improve and impress. In fact, in spite of the Lagoon 39 having quickly become one of the most popular charter yacht production yacht in the world, it is ideally suited to the performance and safety demands of a blue-water cruiser. Impulso's owner has travelled three oceans and has encountered his fare share of tricky conditions along the way, particularly because restrictions due to Covid meant longer distances to travel between destinations and the difficulties of planning a passage entirely in good weather. He never felt unsafe, overwhelmed or let-down by his yacht and his voyage alone should be seen as a very valuable trust-test in the design. Furthermore, when not being tested by the ocean, the Lagoon 39 really does provide an astonishing play-station and incredibly comfortable home-on-the-water in spite of its theoretically small size. Then amount of storage available will suit a large family on a sabbatical work cruise, with room for everything needed for such a purpose, such as abundant space for supplies, spare parts, tools, clothes and personal effects, water toys, safety items, etc. As impressive to watch sailing past as it is the envy of other sailors when sitting at anchor, it is really worth a closer look for someone who wants 'small but big', fast but not too fast, well behaved but still edgy, safe in all conditions, easy to handle and able to satisfy the novice as much as the experienced sailor.  'Impuslo' is available turn key in Fiji, complete with everything you need to just step on and feel like all your Christmases have come together, right down to the 7Kwa generator, the dive compressor, air-conditioning, watermaker, top of range instruments allowing you to navigate your way around the world at your fingertips and designed to be incredibly easy to use and understand, as well as the serious dinghy and reliable outboard, all the home necessities you need, Cat 1 safety items etc. Such a boat will not last long on the market and we look forward to meeting her new family here in Fiji, or to deliver her to you wherever that is. With respect to each market, each design is more specifically constructed around its usage. The Performance is a more light weight yacht built for regatta and inshore saving, while at the opposite end is the Grand Large, meant for serious unlimited offshore cruising, with the 'Cape Horn' edition sitting atop as flagship of the Dufour Cruising range. Sawadiva is one of the few “Cape Horn Edition”, a customised enhancement of the original Grand Large design aiming at the Bluewater cruising market and luxury live-aboard, integrating at the time of build such equipment has the generator, watermaker, air conditioning ect, with all plumbing, piping and wiring laid by the Dufour factory before the construction was completed. This ensured that all the systems were installed with the same standards as the rest of the construction, avoiding retro-fitting and the resulting messy wiring or ducted plumbing / piping having to be integrated later and without as much respect to the engineering or structure of the yacht. This dream became reality for us when we purchased Nikau in May 2017 and flew from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to begin our adventure with our family of five. We have recorded our journey from the start on our You Tube channel Sailing Nikau so you can follow her adventures there as well. We started with two seasons in the Mediterranean exploring firstly Italy then Greece, we completed many additions and upgrades over that first winter then we were off to explore Turkey, Crete, Malta and Tunisia finishing in Spain before crossing the Atlantic to do three months in the Caribbean. In May 2019 we crossed from Panama to the Pacific having a fantastic season exploring French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Niue and Tonga before returning to New Zealand in October 2019. We completed more upgrades and additions in New Zealand over 2020 including a full new AGM battery bank, new sail drive and complete engine overhaul. We then had to complete New Zealand’s Category 1 safety certificate to leave New Zealand again which included more additions and upgrades including a storm sail, all new flares and more safety gear. Nikau is fully equipped and ready for cruising anywhere in the world! We have loved this last season here in Fiji, with 333 islands it is the perfect place to begin a cruising adventure, there’s so much to see and do right here in Fiji plus it is the perfect jumping off point to many more locations such as Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Australia, New Zealand or Asia. After five years cruising and seeing so much of the world we feel it is time to let another family enjoy her so we can focus on new projects and also allow our teenagers to complete their last high school years in New Zealand. What do we love about Nikau? So much!! One of the key reasons we chose Nikau was for her quality German design and the five-cabin layout. Having a family with three children moving from a house into a small space such as a boat we felt it was important for each child to have their own cabin, as well as this we wanted to have a spare cabin so friends and family could join us. This strategy has worked so well, Nikau sleeps 12 and we have had many happy holidays with other families aboard without getting in each other’s way or feeling cramped, we also have hosted many dinner parties for other cruisers, Nikau is a go-to boat for get-togethers as both her cockpit and salon are very spacious compared to other monohulls, easily sitting 12 around the dining table for shared meals. We get a lot of compliments about how light and roomy she is below deck, this is due to the generous beam (4.95m) and the abundance of hatches to let in both light and breeze (essential in the tropics). Nikau has a lovely colour scheme of white walls and ceilings with light wood floors, doors and detailing, cream upholstery and slate grey galley benchtop, a timeless combination that always feels bright and modern. The other thing you will notice about Nikau is her generous height proportions, as a German design this is the perfect boat for tall people (we ourselves are quite short but enjoy the extra space anyway), many boats are very limited in height which can be a major frustration for those looking to purchase a liveaboard yacht and not often noticeable in the photos, we always have tall visitors commenting on how they don’t have to duck through the doors like they do on their own boats! We actually have been so impressed with the quality of materials used by Bavaria to make this comfortable cruiser, even though we have owned her for five years she still looks as good as the day we bought her, quality fittings, wood work and an exceptionally practical layout make living on Nikau so enjoyable. Another major drawcard for us in purchasing Nikau was the fold-down swimming platform at the back, this large platform is so practical for getting on and off the boat, swimming and fishing, it was one of our ‘must have’ items when purchasing a yacht and we are so glad we have a boat with this feature, it makes the cockpit like an outdoor living room leading to your own infinity pool wherever you may be in paradise! Some of our additions to Nikau such as the washing machine, generator, water maker and wind/hydro power generation have really added to the quality of our cruising lifestyle. We can literally live off-grid for months at a time as we can create our own power and water wherever we are with no need to forgo normal modern conveniences such as doing laundry or using the toaster and kettle - things you take for granted in land-based life but are luxuries not included in many cruising yachts! Nikau also has the luxury of three inside bathrooms including two indoor showers and one outdoor shower, this means no one is fighting over using the bathrooms and we can give our guests their own ensuite (no need to give up our own ensuite or share with the kids). This is another great feature not often found in monohulls or even in catamarans many of whom seem to have to use their bathrooms for extra storage, we have no such issues on Nikau with plenty of storage from the large lazarette and under cockpit seats to under beds, behind seats, cupboards and wardrobes in every room, we have so much storage that there are some spaces still empty despite living on here for 5 years! Aside from all the internal features Nikau is also a pleasure to sail, she cruises comfortably with an average 6-7 knots in most winds and 8-9 knots in more windy conditions (Nikau loves wind and out performs yachts of similar size in any wind over 15 knots)! With a recent rig report, sails and sheets that were new in Greece 2018 and quality Selden parts for the mast, boom, furler and tackle we have confidently sailed Nikau halfway around the world and in all weather conditions including winds up to 50 knots, she handles rough weather beautifully, we just reef in the main and genoa and let the autopilot do the work a lot of the time, all new Raymarine radar, plotter, sonar, Vesper AIS and Iridium Go mean we have the most up to date weather info and can also watch our track and make adjustments using the Ray Remote app on our phone or ipad from down below in stormy conditions or on night watch. Her Bruce Farr design means she has the perfect balance between comfortable cruiser and still being able to achieve efficient sailing speeds and excellent angles upwind. All in all Nikau is a proven blue-water cruiser, a turn key yacht with masses of upgrades just ready and waiting to take her new owners on some fantastic cruising adventures, while it will be sad for us to say goodbye to such a beautiful boat that has faithfully taken us thousands of miles, we also realise that boats need to be used to stay in top condition and that’s why we would rather pass her on to a new family now, when she is ready for you just to walk on and sail away into your own dream trip!"

Built to comfortably and effortlessly cover huge distances in all weather conditions, her previous owner, a keen surfer who purchased the boat to chase the best swells the South Pacific has to offer, bringing 'Aquarian' back and forth between his home in QLD and his other home in the beautiful Manamuca Islands in Fiji. Aquarian has also been imported in New Caledonia, where she can also remain indefinitely. This could be very interesting for someone wishing to spend extended amount of time either in Australia, New Caledonia or Fiji, where cruising permits normally last 12-18 months. In 2018, Aquarian was sold to her current owners, a Hawaiian couple of entrepreneurs who thought to use the boat for their own pleasure when in Fiji, but mostly looked at developing her as a surfing and fishing charter. Unfortunately, due to Covid, the venture never eventuated and the boat is now back on the market. Built of 4mm thick alloy above the waterline and 5mm below, over an extremely strong aluminum frame and grid, this veritable ship means business. She was specifically chosen by her owner to be able to safely cruise the sometimes tricky waters of the Pacific Islands, where uncharted reef abounds, as well as sustain some of the roughest ocean conditions. Her hull is insulated above the waterline to keep the cabin cool in the hot weather, and warm when it is cool as well as protect the cabins against condensation.  'Aquarian' is turnkey and a great choice for someone looking for a near-new passage-maker and serious offshore cruising vessel. She is accordingly equipped with all the necessary cruising electronics, water-maker, new Genset 2015, brand new air conditioning, huge inverter, Alloy RIB on davits and extensive safety inventory. The boat is wired in 240V and 12 V. 'Aquarian' was re-sprayed in 2-pack Epoxy in 2014 and her hull is in beautiful condition. There are a few areas in the cockpit which could do with a touch up, although these are really minor and restricted to traffic areas. The interior is fresh and clean, with new upholstery in the salon as well as the aft deck and flybridge (all exterior upholstery done by Marshall Sails in 2018). Intelligently designed to marry muscle and ultimate competence at sea with a luxurious but practical interior, 'Aquarian's list of great features is impressive.   Here are the main outlines: -Boat easily boarded in all weather via the two wide aft steps and boarding platforms-Large aft cockpit with a lovely curved settee and large capacity storage hatches both under the floor and the seats. -Wide access hatches to engine rooms -Good access to the forward deck via the side deck, which are fitted with stainless steel grab-rails-Flush access through the two reinforced-glass doors to the saloon and main cabin. -A sturdy ladder reaches the huge flybridge, which combines a large sitting area, small bar fridge, more storage and the helm area, which is situated to offer great visibility around the whole ship and the forward deck. -Full set of clears and solid GRP Bimini are suitable in all weather and provide great protection at sea while still being modular. As an example, the owners crossed the Atlantic in absolute comfort and safety in less than 12 days recording a top speed of more than 18 knots. The owners chose the 521 as probably the best and largest catamaran that any couple could comfortably handle and maintain with ease, without the need of crew. It motors economically at 7 knots on one engine or can cruise along with both engines at 8+ knots and has a top speed of 10 knots. The Catana 52's provide high performance ocean passaging in safety & comfort, with uncluttered decks and efficient handling systems… it's so easy for a couple to handle such a large volume cat with powerful Volvo engines (on shaft drives, not sail-drives), two headsail furlers and electric winches for sail handling and launch and recovery of inflatables. Safety First…Additional safety via the latest in Satphone communications plus a full suite of Raymarine equipment including 2 chartplotters (one at inside navigation station, the other at the starboard helm), AIS (send and receive), radar and an SSB.  Style...This is probably one of the best looking catamarans around in her classic, navy blue livery. Her tasteful soft furnishings complete the package, being stylish yet tastefully understated….put simply, she's eye catching by any standard. With her discrete lighting throughout, even at night, she outstanding in every respect. The all new LED lighting (inside and out) is an impressive feature including deck and cockpit lights that guide you safely back to the transom after being ashore Layout/Accommodation... This three cabin “owner layout” is lined throughout in rich Canadian Cherry. The owner cabin bathroom features a large walk-in shower stall and the port guest side offers a huge shower stall and seperate head. The aft port cabin can convert from two singles to a large queen berth. Each of the cabins has a 3ft x 1ft opening window for a panoramic view and generous ventilation. All of the bathroom fixtures were replaced in 2019 with stylish Hansgrohe equipment. The liners in the salon were all replaced, as were the opening hatch lenses and seals.  The large bright and airy bridge deck saloon has a dedicated navigation centre (facing forward) and efficient galley layout including 2 large fridges and a freezer, a Force 10 stove (3 burners and oven), Microwave, ample cupboards, loads of storage, a generous dining table that seats 8 comfortably. This leads directly through sliding doors to the cockpit area. A nice feature is the way food and drinks can be easily passed from the galley directly to the cockpit dinning table using the sliding window adjacent the companionway door. The galley sink and faucets are new from Hansgrohe adding a very nice touch.   In addition to power reversible air conditioning for use when in marinas or on the new Northern Lights generator (787 hours), "Nature's AC" is still the best, cheapest and most reliable. Ventilation is provided via a total of 16 hatches/windows that keep this cat cool! There are four large forward facing hatches in the saloon and one in each hull forward (inside the hulls and called "Dolphin Hatches"); these provide masses of cooling air that passes throughout the accommodation. In addition, there are four huge top opening hatches (3ft x 1 ft) on the outside of each hull and six smaller hatches. The large sliding door & window to the saloon ensures a cooling breeze through to the cockpit and outside dining area and an additional sliding screen door keeps the bugs out of the boat. To further enhance cooling there are reflective screens on all salon windows and great awnings all around the cockpit so you'll never get too hot.  Cockpit and outside…This is the hub of a superbly designed entertainment and "living area" that has sun awnings on all three sides, sumptuous reclining seats to relax in and take in the panoramic view and there's seating for 12 in comfort or dining for 8 at the foldout table. Larger parties could easily be accommodated in this area, which is generous by any standard. The fabulous new canvas work in Sunbrella exudes style and taste with complimenting cushions and folding deck seats, discrete lighting in the cockpit area enhances further the entertaining experience. Foredeck…The awning that covers the foredeck, (when required), is great for lazing under in the hammock and provides ample space for parties to enjoy sundowners in the cool breezes. In addition there are cushions for relaxing or reading in the cool shade. The decks are clear and uncluttered for easy and safe walk-around, all roller reefing and spinnaker guys control lines are neatly led aft through under deck conduits. Storage…Masses of storages are provided to take all you need for a circumnavigation with 2 cavernous lockers forward that can holds things like sails, bikes, passerelle, fortress anchors, kite boards, surfboards, fenders and mooring lines etc.. In the cockpit, there are 3 huge lockers that have a combined area about 6ft x 12 ft x 2 ft 6 " deep. Equipped to Circumnavigate…This seriously equipped "Sailor's Cat" is set up for long distance ocean/Trade Wind cruising at it's very best. The internet abounds with glowing reviews for the Southerly 135s including from big names such as ‘Sail Magazine’ and ‘Cruising World’, commenting on the Southerly’s extraordinary quality of build and the genius of Rob Humphreys’ design. (Please note that the Southerlys are built by Northshore Yachts UK, not Northshore yachts Australia, who manufacture light weights cruiser / racers and are diametrically different yacht manufacturers). When Viking’s owner decided to go sailing around the world, his approach to searching for the perfect boat was methodical. He was looking for the perfect boat: a strong, seaworthy, versatile cruising yacht built to the highest standards and packed with all the features that would truly open the ocean to him, unlimited and able to cope in every situation. After setting his heart on the Southerly 135s, he then became involved throughout the building process and worked with the designer and manufacturer to further improve the specs to create what after 20 years of working in the cruising industry as a shipwright, skipper and specialised yacht broker, I can without hesitation call the most perfect 45’ blue-water cruising yacht I have ever seen. Why did he choose Southerly in the first place? The UK is well known for bringing to the world some of the best quality cruising yachts, and if the are expensive, it is for good reasons. If the French does the mass-produced boat well, the British focus on a smaller output, admittedly with a much higher price range, but use techniques that involve less machine and more hand-build techniques that are no longer profitable to large production lines, but result in yachts that are in every way of far better quality. From the lay of the glass to the finishing touches, everything is subject to the most stringent quality control. Everything from the choice of glass mat, gel coat, resin, timber, fittings hardware, machinery, even down to the tiniest hinge, is carefully chosen for strength and durability.  To further increase this already incredibly seaworthy design, the owner then went further with reinforcing the strength of the boat, particularly against collision and requested that the manufacturer use a solid (no core) Kevlar mat, which is virtually indestructible, for a large part of the bow section and added a watertight bulkhead.  The Westerly 135s is already a very comfortable, easy to sailboat that is built for a beautiful motion at seas while keeping a good turn of speed. To make the going even easier the owner  turned his attention to the sail handling and commissioned a number of extras, including a bow thruster and a furling main sail (both Genoa and Main sail were upgraded to Spectra for better performance and longevity). A primary power winch was added, a cockpit controlled anchor winch with chain counter and all the sheets run aft to the cockpit. The boat is effectively set up for solo-handling or short-handed passages. Next, comfort was further improved by adding air conditioning (14000 BUT) with an additional separate hot air ducted system throughout the boat, a washing machine, and a separate fully set-up work area complete with all the tools needed and of course dedicated storage for everything needed to repaired and maintain everything on board.  Regarding power, the boat is fully equipped to be self-sufficient with solar panels,  a 3.4kva generator (2016) and a full set of brand new batteries (2019). Down below the interior is practical and extremely well though-off. The huge aft cabin with private ensuite rivals much larger boats. It is a veritable owner's stateroom, private from the rest of the boat and comfortable to use in any weather. The raised salon is really what it is, a beautiful area to relax, dine or entertain with a panoramic view of the outside and with direct access to the cockpit. The keel box does not impede on the lower interior, which is divided into a bunk cabin to port with a settee to starboard and a V berth forward. The galley is substantial and well designed for safe use at sea. (Please read the accommodation and galley description on the next page for more details). The important demands for storage capacity for a blue-water cruising yacht are well met. If these are increasingly reduced in modern production boats that favour emphasising open spaces ill-suited to long term travels and live-aboard, the Southerly 135s provides an abundant storage capacity for both everyday items and stores which must be able to be organised and readily accessible, as well as heavier equipment, machinery, etc. There is ample space for everything in intelligently located storage areas. Going back to the general design, the flexibility of the retractable keel is an extraordinary asset for cruisers. Designed for use in the extreme tidal areas of the UK, the boat is perfectly stable on its bottom with the keel retracted and its two strong rudders acting as stabilisers. This feature is perfect for cruising amongst low-lying reefs or when wanting to tuck yourself in away from storm surge in adverse weather. With the keel fully retracted, the profile depth is only 2'9" at its deepest. You can beach the boat to clean her or to access tidal areas. The possibilities are limitless. When at sea, a simple push of a button will extend your draft to a high performance 9’9”. Of course you are also able to chose any other drafts in between depending where you are and wish to go and everything just at the touch of a button positioned next to the helm. To recap, the wonderful Southerly 135s is at home anywhere in the world, in the canals of France as much as in the South Pacific and strong enough to handle as well as equiped to explore the high latitudes and more challenging oceans in the world.
